Companhia de Electricidade de Macau (CEM) is a private utility company and exclusive concessionaire responsible for generating, importing and exporting, transmitting, distributing, and selling electricity in Macau, a special administrative region in China.
Like many utility providers, it is critical for CEM to to obtain timely information to respond to utility outages quickly. However, CEM identified that its operations system could not handle high-voltage or medium-voltage outages, leaving CEM with a time-consuming, manual process for restoring service.
To improve its outage response and restoration times, CEM needed an integrated system that would automatically generate critical outage information, including the number of affected customers and their locations during high- or medium-voltage outage events.
CEM selected Hexagon Safety & Infrastructure to implement an outage management and mobile workforce management solution to improve utility outage response and restoration times.
Intergraph InService provides CEM with map-based, real-time analysis of its network’s usage and availability. Operators are able to quickly dispatch field crews – as well as public emergency services – to exact outage locations to reduce restoration time and safety. InService also provides an identical operating map for field crews to optimize coordination and visual confirmation during service restoration.
To meet CEM’s 24/7 availability and performance requirements, InService uses an architecture scheme that replicates data for use and distribution within InService to support multiple sites. InService’s integrated tools have streamlined operations, improved data transparency and communications with internal and external stakeholders, and increased network reliability and resiliency.
