Wyndham City Council, Australia has undertaken a major upgrade of its Intergraph GeoMedia WebMap installation. Rapid population growth, coupled with diverse business activities in the city, has heightened the demand for spatial services that facilitate the management of property data and city growth. With this upgrade, the city can use the highly customized solution to better leverage geospatial data.
The Council's custom solution built on GeoMedia WebMap, called WynMap, enables advanced cartographic capabilities, such as the rendering of vector maps using Adobe Flash and GeoMedia WebMap Publisher and delivers multiple tools and features specifically developed to suit the needs of the Council, including a property information window that pulls data across various corporate systems and renders them to an easy-to-use window. Following the Geomedia WebMap upgrade, average map times were reduced by more than 24%, and the number of maps needed per session was reduced.
"We are experiencing an era of unprecedented growth and needed to construct the right geospatial solution to help us effectively manage it, now and in the future," said Dr Adam Mowlam, Wyndham City, coordinator Spatial Systems Unit. "With WynMap, we can provide an accurate, dynamic and current GIS to all staff, and empower them to obtain information on their own. The greater aesthetic appeal of maps and improved access to spatial layers has reduced internal cartographic demands, which consequently frees up time for greater value adding tasks."
WynMap acts as a portal and first point for call for various business operations throughout Council. The strong system integration and easy search functionality provide a context that other non-spatial applications cannot. Furthermore, the integration with mobile inspection data and other corporate systems allows the entire enterprise to spatially display and analyze their services.
