Intergraph Security Government and Infrastructure (SG&I) has presented the Smart Government Award to long-time customer and partner Al Ain Municipality, United Arab Emirates. The Intergraph SG&I Smart Government Award is presented to an exemplary public sector organization that has shown vision and leadership in the application of geospatial information and technology to their operations.
For more than two decades, the Spatial Data Directorate of Town Planning and Survey of the Al Ain City Municipality in the United Arab Emirates has maintained an Intergraph software-based digital spatial data and GIS infrastructure for the country’s eastern region. This spatial data infrastructure aids with planning, survey, land management, utility approvals, building permits, and much more.
“Geospatial information and processes are fundamental to the operation of government,” said John Graham, president Intergraph Security, Government and Infrastructure. “We are proud of our long-standing partnership with Al Ain Municipality and their use of Intergraph products in making significant contributions to improving the quality of services and simplifying interactions between government, businesses and citizens.”
More than 300 Municipality personnel access the system, either directly through the database or through Web services, to view up-to-date basemaps and a vast library of images. Recently, the Al Ain Municipality GIS was rated highest amongst all government entities in the Abu Dhabi Emirate in the GeoMaturity study organized by the government last year.
