What to Expect at HxGN LOCAL – Toronto and Calgary: Law Enforcement, Fire, and EMS

Alberta Health Services

With our HxGN LOCAL Toronto event and HxGN LOCAL Calgary Public Safety Summit set for next month, February 6th and February 28th respectively, I wanted to expand on the thought leadership and training sessions that are being offered. This year, both events will be extended beyond one day to include training sessions for Intergraph Mobile for Public Safety. Please check out the event website for more details regarding the training offered in Toronto and in Calgary.

So, without further ado, here’s a look at some of the law enforcement, fire, and EMS topics and sessions that will be discussed during our Canadian HxGN LOCAL events.

Public Safety A to Z: What’s New?
What’s a day in the life of a dispatcher, field officer, and supervisor like? How are their jobs impacted and improved when dealing with technology solutions like Hexagon Safety & Infrastructure's Intergraph Computer-Aided Dispatcher? With the enhancements that have been made within the last year, we are excited to show you that things are moving quicker, easier, and more intuitive than ever before. During this session, we will discuss how your command and control center can utilize new capabilities that enhance support for large event and incident command workflows, situational awareness, as well as day-to-day operations. Whether you’re in law enforcement, fire, or EMS, you won’t want to miss this session!

Mobile Exploration: Connected Officer and Enhanced Incident Sessions
Mobility is an ever-changing tool. It keeps people connected and informed, while also helping to bridge communication gaps that exist within public safety agencies. Our mobile sessions will highlight where we see mobile heading, including looking at new applications that are going to be made available to Canadian customers. There’s a growing need for law enforcement officers to always be connected so we will have some examples on how we plan to help agencies. We will also highlight in our Fire and EMS session how we are enhancing incident command with mobile by enabling staging areas on the fly.

Analytics for Public Safety
Public safety agencies recognize the importance of understanding big data and are incorporating software tools to streamline the processes needed to manage, process, and deliver it. Canadian public safety agencies are already recognizing the multiple benefits that come from transforming complex operational data into meaningful information. We want to explore that data even further using reports and dashboards, which allow them to develop predictive models to help prevent and reduce crime. This session will focus on advanced business intelligence (BI) capabilities as well as how BI can be incorporated within your agency today!

Emerging Threats to Critical Infrastructure
The mission of first responders has become even more difficult. Improved safety and security technologies have made some tasks easier, but they also increase the public’s expectations. In this session, we will examine the critical infrastructure framework necessary to secure cities.

Disaster Management, Threat Management, and Anticipating Terror
This session will look at the effects of disaster and emergency management on law enforcement, fire, and EMS agencies. Taking a smart, planned approach to major incidents and events is essential and we want to work with our customers to help plan and respond safely and effectively.

Law Enforcement Data Beyond Your CAD
Records management systems are fundamental to law enforcement. They serve agency-wide needs, aiding operational management, case management, investigations management, resource management, reporting, and more. But beyond the fundamental workflows and capabilities that are required of a records management system in Canada, it’s so important to build in data quality rules to ensure that information is accurate, thorough, consistent and meaningful to support effective analysis and reporting. This session will explore how to use quality data from your records management system and transform it into insight that you can drive better decision making with.
