Serving over 1.2 million residents, the Salt Lake Valley Emergency Communications Center (VECC) and Salt Lake City 911 (SLC911) are responsible for dispatching police, fire, and emergency medical agencies across Salt Lake County, Utah. With separate, disconnected dispatch systems, both communications centers were manually transferring 10,000 calls per month to the right jurisdiction. This system disconnect caused response delays and increased the likelihood for dispatcher error.
To overcome these challenges and consolidate 911 dispatch systems, Salt Lake County public safety agencies came together and identified the need to procure a solution that would support multi-agency, multi-jurisdiction requirements. The regionalized system would need to unify dispatching, records management, mobile, and analytics.
After a competitive procurement process, Salt Lake County public safety agencies selected Hexagon Safety & Infrastructure to deliver an integrated, regionalized public safety systems for 911 dispatching, records management, mobile and analytics.
Powered by Intergraph Computer-Aided Dispatch (I/CAD), the VECC and SLC911 centers have been able to achieve greater efficiencies, balance workload, and ensure back-up of dispatching functions.
